Twisted Metal is perfect for adaptation. The references to the games enhance it if you get it, but don't get in the way if you aren't in the know. And the lore in the games is so inconsistent there's no reason to "um akshually β" any of the decisions they make for the show.
On one hand, reducing car use reduces urban pollution. But on the other, everyone likes it and cities become more livable

Now in fairness, Vault 13 is the main vault in Fallout 1, and the whole Vault-Tec human experiment angle isn't really a thing until the later games, and was kinda retconned in re: Vault 13. But still, I hope this coffee shop keeps their water chip in good working order....
Vault 13 is a particularly funny one here because a major part of their "experiment" was they ran out of the ability to produce potable water.
