I was able to scrape my way to 28 hours this week at work (if I get called in tonight, at least. Otherwise it's 21.) but I won't see that until September 12th. My acting gig paid $168 though! I'm not prepared to relax yet in case something falls through, but I'm in a better position than earlier!
Next, I spent the morning and afternoon talking with the roomie and building management to try and find a way to get this done today. Normally they've been amazing to us, so this was an outlier. I just got an email at 3pm saying that we were approved and the new lease was being prepped to sign.
First, I needed to make sure I had a chance to cover expenses. So I reposted my Ko-Fi request, listed my Animal Crossing Switch and guitar on Marketplace, and put my Special Delivery Pikachu up for auction until the end of the month. If I could sell them all for asking price, I'd be golden.
But it took up until now to get communication from the building management, and the potential roommate threatened to pull out. And there was no way I'd be able to have an extra $1300 ontop of everything else I needed, so I went into a focused panic.
So, no problem right? We'd get a roommate by then. Except the economy sucks and we didn't get anyone interested until mid-august. But we got someone! Hours were cut hard at work, a couple 10 and 14 hour weeks, but I had an acting gig lined up and Sharq Week could help out with that.
A big thanks to everyone, but especially @zarynscribbles.vtubers.social and @alynwrench.bsky.social for checking in on me during this day of just intense panic. Here's exactly what went down: We originally had a roomie join us in June, but they got a job offer in Ontario for September 1st.
ALRIGHT, WE GOT APPROVAL FOR THE NEW ROOMMATE! While the lack of hours at my day job still hit me pretty hard, this effectively reduces the goal amount by HALF to cover rent! Depending on what that Pikachu sells for, I *should* be okay even if we don't reach the goal!
Absolutely, it means the world to me and I'm sure you know it. I'm doing everything I can behind the scenes to not need this, so fingers crossed I can cancel it soon!
