I quit in 2006 or so. Cigarettes were less than $5.00 a pack, with specials, buy two, get one. In Las Vegas I always ask price. Last year they were about $18 a pack. They’re cheaper if you bring them yourself, a friend brought them from Illinois and paid $90 for a carton. He smokes a carton a week.

It will never happen in the US because although the cigarettes are heavily taxed, I believe, (and I might be wrong) that the tobacco farmers are subsidized as well. I am an ex-smoker, and quitting was the best thing I’ve ever done.
When I lived in Chicago, the gutters were lined with cigarette butts. I read that they never decompose. In Arizona, you will be fined heavily if you drop one on the street, wildfires and all. How about banning the sale of cigarettes?
