I was a Ford mechanic during the 70s. Joel speaks the truth.

Very true.

Okay. Been hearing "we know the names" for what seems like weeks now. But no names. This is starting to feel like another media-hyped nothingburger.

Interesting question. Since tides are affected by the position of the moon(s) relative to the sun and how much they add to the sun's gravitational mass at any point, I'm going to guess direction of travel wouldn't make a lot of difference except making the tides more frequent.

You have been proven correct. That is about the point at which I learned that electing democratic majorities and 📞 my reps are both exercises in futility.
Bob Loblaw (@stevetrunk.bsky.social) reply parent
That can not be real.
Bob Loblaw (@stevetrunk.bsky.social) reply parent
Each student was given different mass and orbital trajectory for their extra moon, assigned at the time the test was handed out. No way to BS your way through that class.

On the opposite end of that spectrum, the time half my class tried to code-signal that my zipper was down. I was completely bewildered until someone finally said it out loud.

Workplace relationships are always a bad choice. But, you're right. The dynamic has definitely changed. Feels like the men are more brutish and women respond as one would expect. If I were young and facing today's dating environment, I think I would just stay home and watch porn.

Yep. Dan Rather got a firsthand taste of what happens if a reporter investigates the wrong thing.

Bush Cabinet meeting on 9/12: "We found out that Motherland and Fatherland are already taken. You guys got anything?"
Bob Loblaw (@stevetrunk.bsky.social) reply parent
9/11 kicked the surveillance state into high gear. Media normalized the idea of giving up rights for an imagined safety. I visited the twin towers memorial and my first thought was, "This is the bottomless pit into which our freedoms vanish."

Mine does, too. But remember, a few years back, when there was a bunch of "throttle stuck wide open" claims? Part of the problem--supposedly--was the start button only said "start." Carmakers had failed to heed the lessons of software developers years earlier.

I just googled it. Limestone Plus is a water repellent coating. It's like a deck sealant for limestone.
Bob Loblaw (@stevetrunk.bsky.social) reply parent
That's the point. Too confusing for an OS, but Ok for a car in a few decades.
Bob Loblaw (@stevetrunk.bsky.social) reply parent
Yet that is exactly how I turn off my car's engine. By pushing the start button.

No one is attacking private prayer. The problem is treating it as a substitute for action while in office, leaving solutions to divine intervention instead of doing your job. Kids being shot in a church isn’t God "working in mysterious ways" — it’s a failure of policy.
