I took the bus home the other night and it was great!
Wanted: any and all photos you have of the #mnstatefair Crop Art area. I'm trying to build a 3D reconstruction of the exhibit and I'm missing a few spots with the ~1200 photos I took myself. I'll look through Bluesky, IG, Twitter, but share any you have or come across too. Weird angles are helpful!

It definitely needs more wall space, which I hope happens, but crop art belongs in the Ag/Hort building and I hope it stays there!

#mnstatefair #cropart yes there are lines, and the crops people did what they could with that space they have. One reason they need to keep the line moving is the fire code: the room itself and the whole building wasn’t made for that many people. Mainly, don’t be an asshole

Minnesota State Fair people: Crop Art has a line. Follow the rules. Don't be a jerk. And if you make our amazing crop art supervisor cry, you should probably be kicked out of the fair.

I think I may be the only person who hated the beer ice cream at the fair. They should have a warning about how it tastes like a SOUR beer. Blech.

I absolutely didn’t expect to win even if qualified lol. It’s covered in onion skins and it’s just silly. There are some FANTASTIC pieces that were selected. I can’t wait to see them!
I think they made sure to mention it after they see my application (which described how I made it).
My Veiled Fairchild didn’t qualify because a couple weeks before the art was due Mia said “oh by the way 2D only.” BUT I did get mentioned in the member letter from the Director! So there’s that

The Minnesota State Fair does not disappoint! My fave is always the crop art- look what people can do with seeds! This year they decreased the chaos! A slow lane for lingering, pondering, and pictures, and a fast lane for moving and grooving. (I went through both). Highlights in thread.

As a crop artist who has been in the amateur level for years, I wish! There is novice for first timers only, then you compete against basically everyone unless you get best in show or 3 blue ribbons, then you move to advanced. It’s silly now that there are so many pieces. I have but one blue…
I don’t think any of the categories are seeds only. That is why it’s called crop art at the MN State Fair, not simply seed art.

Did you know that you can ask about buying crop art or chatting with the artist? Go to the desk at the end of the exhibit and pick up a contact card. Not all artists sell their pieces, but it never hurts to ask! #cropart #mnstatefair

I overheard people asking where the crop art was and I told them, and also told them how to get to their education building. One asked if I was a crop artist and I said how did you know? She said I looked like an artist ☺️
