I am discovering, at 53 years old, that I suck at receiving constructive criticism.
I wish I had any debate skills to speak of, but even if I did, none of the people attending an event like this are likely to be swayed by logic.

I work with sailors and naval officers daily. The officers I mostly trust to adhere to the Constitution; hard to say about the sailors. They're mostly taught to get the job done.

John Carpenter's The Thing. It came out in 1982 and I saw it (or the beginning anyway) on HBO or Showtime soon after. One of the neighborhood kids made a minor event for us all to watch it. The dog sent me running my 10-year-old ass home. In 40-plus years, I've never tried to watch it again.
I've been hard at work on my model railroad club's traveling layout in prep for the Ventura County Fair, our signature event. The yard on the layout, which was previously barely functional, has been entirely redone, new track, switches, and switch machines. Hope I can ballast it before the show.
I could maybe--maybe--see this getting traction with railfans more interested in the full scale than models, but why would modelers be at all interested in these? We have enough unbuilt kits cluttering up our workspaces.

Burbank Airport in the San Fernando Valley is the LAX alternative that's like this. Easy parking, fast security, chill vibe. Most gates (if not all) are boarded by staircase rather than jetway and I always feel like I'm in a 1950s movie whenever I fly out of there.

I've found a great way to get the ballast off the ties is to gently tap the rails with the handle of the brush. The ballast just hops off the ties into the gaps between. Ballasting: totally worth doing, even if it's a giant pain in the ass to do.

This right here (not PoC or female characters having actual roles) is my problem with the sequels. The storytelling seems to have been entirely in Abrams' head and not on the screen. No sense of who or what the First Order is. Two lines in an opening crawl could have fixed this.

COVID really proved that we can get the work done from home, but bosses just can't stand to relinquish that control. A 4-day work week is another aspect of this phenomenon.
Remote work is just as productive as office work, but bosses are still so entrenched to the idea that if they can't see their employees, the employees aren't working. When DoD did their "Return to Office" earlier this year, the bosses were the biggest cheerleaders, despite the drop in morale.

Me too. I never felt like SW fit into the D20 mold and somehow missed the WEG version. The FFG system has become my favorite RPG system overall and the sheer volume of options available for the SW game is like candy to an RPG collector like me. I've played almost every week for five years.
