Which isn't really surprising. I mean, nobody expect to glean the full nuance of an entire think piece from the headline or opening precis para. But if that's all you have to go on then yes, I understand that that's all you have to go on.
They're an advert though. You're then meant to read the article and it's literally about teen boys etc. I don't think it's so much an underlying presumption as just benefiting from the context of the article If you've read it you'll understand. If not, then you may well not.
I think it's perhaps more not being wise to the fact that a single post of three can go viral and in doing so lose vital context. Which, in fairness, is exactly the same mistake I made - assuming three posts I had read as a triptych would always be read as such and so the context of each preserved.
Well because that's what the article is about (or, more specifically, to teenage boys experiences within that sphere). But as I say, I take the point that you wouldn't know that unless you'd read the threaded skeet with the link to it, actually clicked on it and read it.

It's a three skeet thread, the first of which links to the article, and the other two fine a brief precis of it. I see where you're coming from re "I was specifically referring to skeet 2" but it seems odd to excise context. (Fwiw I absolutely agree with your main point)

The original skeet is a link to an article he wrote, in which it's very clear that the "silence" he's talking about is solely relating to advice on how to get laid being offered to hormonal teen boys. I genuinely don't know how anyone who has read the article it links could interpret it wider.

That's where it ends, sure. It's not where it starts though. The bait for the fresh meat is almost always how to get laid - which is the point of the article. It's not about dealing with those who are already in the cult, it's about trying to counter the siren call of it in the first place.
Did you read the article? He's talking about the fact that the vast majority of "advice" on how to get laid that's pitched at horny teen boys comes from the manosphere, and how that can be addressed. That doesn't seem very contentious to me?
I think that's a complete misreading - it's not about those already in the right wing sex grievance incel brigade, it's about the pathway into it from normal horny teen wondering how to get laid. And how the "advice" out there is overwhelmingly from the right/manosphere.

Agree entirely here, too! Fwiw the author always comes out to bat - very eloquently - for LGBTQ, immigrants, ND, the poor etc. Compassion and understanding of struggle underpins everything he writes. I suspect my familiarity with his output lends a context that may not be shared.

As a 52 year old - no, obviously not. But as a 16yo? I wanted to get laid and didn't know how. A "quick fix" could have been beguiling. I think that's an implicit point in the article - as you grow up and live experiences you learn and move away from such singular views.

Sure, the left talk about and celebrate sex all the time, esp Vs the right, I think that's a given. But the thrust of the article is that they're aren't talking about *how* to get laid in a way that engages with a teen audience and their desires, fears, needs etc. Which the right very much are.
This is an odd take in the context of the article. It literally goes out of its way to say that the author is crap at every male coded skill and that there are plenty of other ways to be competent that aren't those. "Masculine" in the quoted context = "attractive to women" I think.
...and isn't this the message of the piece? Basically - if you want to get laid: be you, recognise you aren't for everyone, listen, work on yourself, develop yourself - and ultimately that setting sex as your only goal in life diminishes you and the sex you get?
I think the problem being addressed isn't the left being sex averse etc, more that to a teen boy asking the question "how do I get laid" there is a vast ecosystem of awfulness that claims to have a definitive answer, but no real counterpoint to that being offered.
It's a great bit of writing and hits all of the points correctly. It's absolutely correct in every way. That shouldn't need saying but it's 2025 and the internet. So I just wanted to tip the hat and hopefully offset a smidgen of the inevitable manosphere backlash.

The Guardian is ok, definitely one of the better UK sites IMO - fwiw it's the paper I buy and the website I read. They tend to carry more varied opinion pieces than most outlets, so often they don't have a very defined editorial stance.
