I should have pointed out that i believe that SCOTUS will uphold this Court of Appeals ruling if for no other reason than that the Constitution is extremely clear on the question of whether a POTUS on his/her own can impose tariffs absent the existence of a justifying emergency.

Repubs should treat this as the canary in the coal mine when they think about the midterms. If Dem governors and Dem-controlled legislatures in blue states take care of their business and redraw their maps to be Dem-friendly, Repubs are going to get their clocks cleaned next November.

Vance thinks that he is so smart, but his statement reveals his total ignorance about how monetary policy management works. America has been considered the worldโs gold standard precisely because it has never allowed politicians to manipulate monetary policy to advance their political objectives.

Dubious? I am far beyond that. My pessimism about our prospects of saving our democracy flows from my recognition that there now are two Americas โ one committed to saving democracy and one that is committed to authoritarianism because it will keep its tribe in power. We will see. Fingers crossed.

That question is way too broad to discuss here. I majored in political science and philosophy in college and then studied law before embarking on a 40-year legal career. My political philosophy is broad and deep and best can be gleaned by reading my numerous BlueSky posts and comments.
I am interested in America being an egalitarian society that reasonably addresses the legitimate interests of all folks who live in America, not in simply selfishly extracting everything from America that can advantage me and my family. I donโt just focus on my succeeding when I can help others.
