To be honest, you're not a conservative either. Russia's policy is a cleptocracy that uses imperialistic rethoric and messaging in order to keep the population docile and submissive despite it's continuous failure to improve their life To keep hanging to power it is their one and only leifmotiv
To be honest, I think there's a growing consensus among the main political figures in Europe about Putin. Even if it should be obvious for anyone that he has been engaged in hostile actions towards Europe for a long time, that was not the way European leaders cost to look at it even 3 years ago.

I think there's not a grain of factual truth in that editorial
That's a dumb excuse. You're not engaging with some artistic community that rejects, opposes and subverts the message of the criminal and authoritarian ruling of the country. You're talking in most cases of people either paid, celebrated or at the very least accepted by the regime.
It's really worrying that the response has been, in almost every case, has been so tame and cautious to invite them to do it over and over again feeling safe and not fearing consequences. The consequence of which is, of course, that map.
