I mean, educating students about how they are directly benefiting from things they likely are unaware of (like the land grant program) isn't a terrible thing, even if it doesn't "fix" it.
The government took the land and specifically gave it to universities to help them build wealth and capital. It's just an acknowledgement from the universities that this happened, and is a large source of their endowment. (you will often see these schools called "land grant" schools)
in the article they say that its allowed if relevant to the class. Hopefully those teachers will make it relevant.
