Yep. And it seems equality law is an area that most legal professionals even are just wildly uniformed about, especially as it pertains to moving targets like all the GC lawsuits to establish their protected belief and so on. So there may be some of that.
With the greatest respect, it is what the UKSC created definitionally, and I am discussing the implications of that definition. This does not signify agreement with that definition or any desire to use it on a personal level, and doesn't need rebuking.

They're at this point just counting on their endless resources meaning that this doesn't become an issue, because most people they threaten to sue can't afford to be sued, but I expect that the ladies' pool thing that's going to court will be the first real test of this.
So - if you run an org of any kind, take a lesson from the Quakers. The Sex Matters approach of shoving all trans people into private broom closets always as a way of "protecting women" is not a legal requirement. Stop letting them get away with pretending it is. Be inclusive where you can. /Fin

The "women's space" can just as easily be the cubicle on the 3rd floor: what part of FWS would that fail to respect? It would be a single sex space, and meanwhile the normal female facilities could be used by everyone who identifies as female. Everyone gets their supposedly necessary safe space. 4/
FWS did not determine that trans rights no longer exist. It determined that in /some/ conflict scenarios, single sex spaces cannot include trans people. But those conflict scenarios are still subject to tests, and accommodations cannot be made in only one way. 3/
The problem that FWS has not created, but that Sex Matters and co are insisting it has done, is a logical fallacy about balancing of "conflicting rights". The TERF take on FWS is that when women's rights and trans rights "conflict", women's rights *always* take precedence. This is a nonsense. 2/
The Quakers are doing exactly what all public services are legally allowed to do even if the EHRC wants to pretend they're not: say gender-based toilets are inclusive and for anyone bothered by that as a matter of belief, there are stand-alone cubicles that they are very free to use. 1/

I can be friends with people who have different ideas about the purpose and size of the state. I can't be friends with bigots who would happily vote for someone who thinks I'm a lesser person. It's not shocking that they don't feel the same: I'm not a bigot, after all, being my friend is easy.
There are only two possibilities: 1. They held abhorrent views and are now glad they’ve been given permission to express them. 2. They are willing to hold or express abhorrent views on the say so of or in defence of their party. I’ve no interest in the views of either category of person.
