Yep. A socialist utopia just like North Korea, where they infamously hold military parades in honor of the Less Supreme Not Leader's outfits.

I'm not sure this actually qualifies as a meme at all but here's a short explanation I found after googling what are truly some words in some combination: knowyourmeme.com/news/creator...

I've nothing to do with KCL but my first thought was that but 60 credits is normally a dissertation on an LLM, so I suspect they've just called that something stupid because marketing said it would hit. (I could be wrong; not like HE hasn't ever chased an idiot fad before!)

Will he rejoin the EU? I seem to recall them being less of an occurrence when we were in. 🤷 (Pathetic, the worst, I hate everything.)

7b. Explosions in the Sky - The Moon is Down Long quiet drives.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
7a. Foxing - Grand Paradise Very regular way to work choice; the build wakes me up when traffic crawls, which is unfortunately my most common driving...
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
6. Fall Out Boy - Flu Game I've got others but this song's basic beat makes my hips move pretty automatically.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
5. Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone A forever banger but the chorus needs to really be blasted to hit.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
4. Bone and Biggie - Notorious Thugs I mean, this is from a distant past because I have better instincts on people these days, but some very conflicting memories here.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
3. Avicii - Seek Bromance European summer.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
2. Sunny Day Real Estate - Seven One of my top three all time favourite songs.

1. Joni Mitchell - Blue Whole album is sensational, but the song itself has always been my favourite on it.

Lol, or - despite what they're obviously aiming for - anywhere else? Not persuasive enough for the fash, too convincingly fash for everyone else. Great stuff.

Sure, this looks fun and for a very long time I had extremely strong feelings about music, so let's reawaken those!

Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
Okay, but how does anyone distinguish between 3 and 4 with flags hanging on your property but visible to others? I find it very hard to assume this is just weirdo civic impulses. It always feels targeted, in that way where, well, if you don't want to be thought of as a racist, you just wouldn't.

😂 Surcharge for emotional distress caused by bad comms.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
Obviously my natural reaction was "this can't be right" and my second reaction given the state of UKHE was ".... actually" Turns out it's as ever just awful comms more than truly sinisterly bad policy. Hey ho!
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
Genuinely not worth it, my objection is principled! Like instead of a long term service award or whatever you get a bill for your next access pass titled "Jaysus, you're STILL here?" Anyway, turns out it's the comms that are rubbish, not the policy. Hey ho.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
Turns out that (as ever) the comms are the problem, and they are not punishing me for long term service after all (!)

It's actually astounding how Labour has managed to go further on anti-migrant, anti-trans etc policies in a year than the Conservatives did in 14. The way they so cavalierly talk about circumventing human rights for migrants, trans and non-binary individuals etc is beyond even the last government.

Would like to ask the current surge of flag wankers just what, exactly, they *mean* when they say they're patriots, - like, what aspect of "England" are they trying to stand up for here? Empirically it'll all be dismissible until we get to "we just want to be part of a huge pasty white majority".

Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
Yep. And it seems equality law is an area that most legal professionals even are just wildly uniformed about, especially as it pertains to moving targets like all the GC lawsuits to establish their protected belief and so on. So there may be some of that.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
With the greatest respect, it is what the UKSC created definitionally, and I am discussing the implications of that definition. This does not signify agreement with that definition or any desire to use it on a personal level, and doesn't need rebuking.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
I mean, their ultimate argument is sort of Boyne-esque, like, "women have been fighting for rights for a very long time, so fuck trans people, put them in a broom closet!", but they haven't made that explicitly yet, so the cis white heteronormative judiciary has just been like "is this a feminism"
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
They're at this point just counting on their endless resources meaning that this doesn't become an issue, because most people they threaten to sue can't afford to be sued, but I expect that the ladies' pool thing that's going to court will be the first real test of this.
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
So - if you run an org of any kind, take a lesson from the Quakers. The Sex Matters approach of shoving all trans people into private broom closets always as a way of "protecting women" is not a legal requirement. Stop letting them get away with pretending it is. Be inclusive where you can. /Fin
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
There is no EA right to a more luxurious or convenient place to wee for biological women. FWS did not create one. And it's insane that all the EHRC guidance is suggesting that it did, and most organisations are either too ignorant or too afraid of the TERFs to apply a logical "hang on a minute". 5/
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
The "women's space" can just as easily be the cubicle on the 3rd floor: what part of FWS would that fail to respect? It would be a single sex space, and meanwhile the normal female facilities could be used by everyone who identifies as female. Everyone gets their supposedly necessary safe space. 4/
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
FWS did not determine that trans rights no longer exist. It determined that in /some/ conflict scenarios, single sex spaces cannot include trans people. But those conflict scenarios are still subject to tests, and accommodations cannot be made in only one way. 3/
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me) reply parent
The problem that FWS has not created, but that Sex Matters and co are insisting it has done, is a logical fallacy about balancing of "conflicting rights". The TERF take on FWS is that when women's rights and trans rights "conflict", women's rights *always* take precedence. This is a nonsense. 2/
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me)
The Quakers are doing exactly what all public services are legally allowed to do even if the EHRC wants to pretend they're not: say gender-based toilets are inclusive and for anyone bothered by that as a matter of belief, there are stand-alone cubicles that they are very free to use. 1/
Alexandra Lanes (@ajlanes.bsky.social) reposted
This, from the Quakers, is a pretty good example of how to resist pressure from bigot lobbying groups. Effectively “we legally can allow trans people to use the loo, we morally should, and we tried it and nothing bad happened”
Sylvia de Mars (@sylviademars.me)
I can be friends with people who have different ideas about the purpose and size of the state. I can't be friends with bigots who would happily vote for someone who thinks I'm a lesser person. It's not shocking that they don't feel the same: I'm not a bigot, after all, being my friend is easy.
