So many families are in this position, despite v clear legislation. Schools have a duty to proactively meet need, but in reality parents/carers have to push for years for an EHCP before adjustments are made. Instead of blaming parents, govt should make schools more inclusive.

There's a very simple solution: As about 95% of asylum seekers are eventually successful - issue them with a temporary "Asylum claimants visa" (Renewable annually) - let them work & house themselves, & dare I say it - pay tax. 🤷 But that wouldn't appease the racists & xenophobes. 🤷
