On a personal level, I've already made this transition. When I look for leadership, I immediately look to see what Pritzker, Walz, Beshear, Wu, Mamdani, etc., are saying before anyone in Congress. More Democrats should do the same until Schumer and Jeffries are gone.

Thinking about "you are not immune to propaganda". I think many left-ish people are somewhat inoculated against certain kinds of propaganda - local nationalism, racial chauvinism, etc - but extremely susceptible to "doomer" propaganda because it flatters them more subtly.
So in conclusion: Newsom's redistricting plan? Quite likely to work, probably a concerted plan by Democratics, very heartening. Newsom the presidential candidate? Imo DOA, unless he can convince you his rise is inevitable, which a lot of folks are unwittingly falling for. Use him & discard him.

I am not pushing Newsom and would very much like Pritzker to be the nominee instead. And I still think it's very possible. But it's also Pritzker's job to get on the board. He should call on Illinois to redistrict. Even drawing out one Republican would be newsworthy. He's too low-profile right now.
