The origin story for the vast majority of cPTSD I see in clients, is the embedded belief that they exist for someone, are non-autonomous property and the perpetual fear of straying outside that roles value will render them valueless.

I just finished Margaret A. Walker's novel 'Jubilee' & the way the white enslavers talked about "[their] nigras" & their "rights" as "property" owners & the "protection & care" they claimed to offer to the Black people they enslaved sounded *so* similar to the way the "parental rights" crowd talks.
