You can probably make a case that Italian cuisine has three distinct time periods: pre-Columbian, post-Columbian pre-war, and post-war, with the vast majority of what we understand of it, even in Italy, to be pos-war cooking.

I think this is correct. I don't think people need to feel bad about enjoying something aimed at kids and teens, but if you're only (or mostly) consuming stuff aimed at kids and teens as an adult, that's a sign that something's gone wrong somewhere
