You're probably the most adept and fair debater of this topic I've seen, but nothing on their side of the claim makes any sense. One has to really try to ignore the bulk of it to have it make sense. To paraphrase the saying, the simplest explanation is most likely the accurate one.
The story is not fine as is. That's the thing. If everyone saw a high profile politician punch a woman on live TV, and his PR team, the sheriff he has bought off, his family & his employees put out statements saying the woman slapped him, the cluster of ppl lying don't make the story fine.
