Accordingly, Independent Jewish Voices calls upon the Atlantic Jewish Council (AJC) to do the right thing, the honourable thing, and apologize for using the incident to continue smearing people who have protested against the genocide in Gaza. Thirdly, the very real crime of the Israeli government is the murderous slaughter of 10s or 100s of thousands of people in Gaza, not the false crime of "the Jews" and 911 that, as terribly murderous as 911 was, killed a comparatively few 3,000 people. Why even bring up 911? 4/5

Second, why bring 911 into it? It has nothing at all to do with Gaza. And most Palestinians are too young to have any meaningful memory of 911. It'd be like when I was a kid people talking about "Pearl Harbour was an inside job"— like, whatever, loser, we're talking about today. 3/5

COWARDS

The Davis Cup World Group I tie between Team Canada and Israel in Halifax, NS will be played in a closed venue format, without fans in attendance, it was confirmed on Tuesday. This decision was not taken lightly and was made in consultation with the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Tennis Canada acted in light of escalating safety concerns. Intelligence received from local authorities and national security agencies, combined with disruptions witnessed at other recent events both in Canada and internationally, indicated a risk of significant disruption to this event. Ensuring the safety of everyone involved, including athletes, fans, staff, volunteers, and minors, such as ball kids, remains our top priority. “At the heart of this difficult decision is our responsibility to protect people while ensuring that this Davis Cup tie can still take place,” said Gavin Ziv, Chief Executive Officer, Tennis Canada. “We were forced to conclude that playing behind closed doors was the only way to both safeguard those involved and preserve the event itself. While this outcome is very disappointing, it allows the tie to proceed in Halifax and ensures that our athletes can continue to compete at the highest international level. We are looking forward to returning to Halifax with Team Canada in the coming years to ensure we can fulfill our mission of promoting tennis and creating opportunities for fans and players to engage with the sport in Nova Scotia and across the country.”

He's been an asshole forever. "Malcolm Gladwell is smart" was the "AI is the future" of the 1990s — just hype repeated over and over so much that credulous people just assumed it was true.

Young people: just call them! Also young people: the olds are ridiculously thinking they can just call people; no one uses the telephone anymore

I guess you just want to think I’m a bad, bad person, but I’m just a regular dude trying to live in the world.

The other, well it was today. Not unreasonable to think it was open, but I checked anyway. No notice it was closed but it was.

One is a pub. Lots of pubs are open on holidays because obviously a lot of people are off work and want to go to pubs. Not crazy for me to check. I tip well. No note they were closed but they were.

You have no idea what businesses I’m talking about. I support locally owned businesses that pay their employees well. I am not being unreasonable. 1/4

Premier Tim Houston says Nova Scotia Power's proposed rate increase shows just how "out of touch" the company is, but Houston doesn't suggest he'll take any action to oppose the rate increase.

PREMIER’S OFFICE--Statement on Proposed Nova Scotia Power Rate Hike --------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: The following is a statement from Premier Tim Houston in response to Nova Scotia Power’s application for a rate increase filed with the Nova Scotia Energy Board. --------------------------------------------------------- Time and time again, Nova Scotia Power shows Nova Scotians how out of touch they are. After overseeing one of the largest data breaches in our province’s history, asking Nova Scotians to pay more should not be the utility’s first move. We still feel betrayed by Nova Scotia Power. This is not the time for a rate increase. This is a time for Nova Scotia Power to show they understand Nova Scotians and withdraw or significantly reduce their application.

It amazes me that many retail businesses, maybe most, don't have their hours right on the front page on the website, easy to find. Many don't have hours anywhere at all on the site.
