It appears that the marginal energy used by a standard prompt from a modern LLM is relatively established at this point, roughly 0.0003 kWh (8-10 seconds of streaming Netflix) Water is more complicated (.25mL to 5mL+), depending on definitions. Training resources are much less clear at this point.

Selbstverständlich aber ich glaube ehrlich gesagt es liegt viel mehr am "Verstehen wollen" als am "Verstehen können". Aber um konstruktiver zu sein: wenn ich zukünftig etwas zu ML/AI untterichten sollte wird es ein "Let's code and deploy your own GPT" sein.

There is quite a lot of evidence on information costs and limited information processing capabilities of individuals so it is good to see this somehow modeled. However, the debate was cursed when a few "serious" people used caricatures as arguments.

If you read my work, I have always loved using em-dashes. Now I actually go through & replace them with semicolons or parentheses (even when dashes would be better) because people assume they are AI Reminds me of the great Delve Collapse - use of the word dropped after it became associated with AI.
