Yes, some on the north end that people bought, thinking it would never become leased land are now leased land. Chief's Point was always leased land also I believe.
My parents' summer resort was on leased land. Once they sold the buildings ( not the land, it wasn't theirs to sell ), they left their beach front on the south end of the beach and built a house on Gremmick Crescent, well away from the beach and the land claim area.
It's a rightful land claim. I'm a little sad to see the name change, but they have every right to do it. I'm surprised the government got away with screwing them over for so long. My family knew in the early 80s and built permanently but off the claim land.
All I know is that when my parents sold their summer resort, they built a permanent house off the claim land. This was back in the late 70s, early 80s. My dad said it was a rightful land claim, and at some point, the government would be forced to acknowledge it. That time came.
