Feedback: You are by far my favorite mtg YouTuber and I used to watch your videos daily. My friends and I stopped playing the game around the time that the Marvel cards came out due to WoC scandals, constant power creep, and wider availability of similar games, such as Gundam Card Game.

If the culprit is almost always right-wing and the motive is almost always boredom, then maybe we should stop pretending that liberals and leftists can change anything with their public statements condemning violence. Maybe the focus should be on the activities of bored conservatives.

One thing that never gets enough attention is how propaganda got us to this point in history. How can the 1st Amendment survive the machine that Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch built? We’re kidding ourselves if we think things will go back to sanity with our current media system intact.

For fascists to stop lying, their strategies need to stop being effective. For the kid who likes candy bars, for them to stop throwing tantrums, those tantrums can’t keep getting them candy bars. Logical discussion with the child or pointing out the problem to the parent BY ITSELF does nothing.

That’s my point! The reality is so much different than the popular perception of the genocides in history that lots of people are able to ignore genocides happening right now. In reality, there is no perfect victim, bad guys take control of narratives, and good guys look for excuses to do nothing.

If the opposition has a strong police and military, it’s not called a civil war. The superior force would just steam roll the rebels and people would call it something else. Ireland had years of violence that people called, “The Troubles.”
BlueSkyMyEye4Lyfe (@travish808.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s quite difficult to get the average US citizen to consistently engage in peaceful acts of protest, like writing emails to politicians or showing up for rallies. Civil wars require 24/7 commitment, hardship, and high risk of death.

Civil wars only happen when a country is MUCH poorer than we are now. Otherwise whoever controls the police and military just crushes any resistance.
