Honestly it is repulsive. It just took the prize from the Met Gala as most heinous gratuitous display of gross wealth.
I can hardly fathom what is going on in the USA at this point. It’s like our entire system is being put through a shredder and whatever this administration wants to do they get to do. A Supreme Court that up until January beat us over the head with originalism now enables the exact opposite

Our founders weren’t perfect, but they had the right ideals.
They have all this information consolidated thanks to Musk and Peter Thiel and DOGE and Palantir corporation. This was the goal - hoovering up all the various databases of government agencies, consolidating it, and using it against us. It starts with immigrants and will end with citizens.

#3 as a march to show our numbers and to demand rights/respect. It has evolved into a massive party underwritten by corporations. In these challenging times it would be good to revisit what it started as and drop all the excesses that corporate sponsors funded. But I like to dance too! 🕺 💃 🌈
#2 all that requires funds, and Pride organizers have consistently expanded the event year over year requiring more money. That’s why corporate sponsors were crucial. holding a march on a street still has costs but substantially less. It’s really a matter of what is the point of Pride? It originated
#1 For a small town maybe, but in SF Pride has 300,000+ attendees. There are 4-5 different dance areas, all requiring equipment, DJs, security, etc. And in most places you can’t just show up and take over a park for thousands to dance in, you need permits,restrooms and insurance among other things.

I have nothing against dance parties, expressing joy and vibrancy, nor their impacts. The post was about loss of corporate sponsors and what to do, and my opinion was to cut out all the things those dollars support and focus on the basics.

I don’t think a massive dance party quite sends the message of resistance to oppression that marching in the streets does, but to each their own. Perhaps wealthy queers should personally fund them vs. orgs shaking the tin can for corporate donations from entities that ultimately just see us as $$
