In happier news, a pro athlete is living there now and absolutely killing it game-wise at the moment. I credit the magical house, which has endured since 1923 and hopefully will continue to do so for a long time. It's my favorite. 💙
I suppose I should be thankful that they didn't actually burn the house down, but dear lord. I mean, who is so disrespectful of other people's homes? Thankfully we did go through Airbnb so I have some recourse, but geez. They were my first guests, too.
These folks left 6 garbage bags full of alcohol containers all over the house. They didn't clean anything for the month they had the place. They broke our custom kid/pet-safe pool cover. They broke our saltillo tile STAIRS, for crying out loud. You have to TRY to fuck things up this much.
They also destroyed a brand new dining room set. It had one small scratch from being moved (it's heavy), and that was minimal with furniture touch-up pen. Now the table and chairs look like this. Again, none of this was there beforehand and it definitely isn't normal wear and tear.
They literally HUNG CURTAINS on windows that didn't have curtains. They tried to replaster and in one case, painted over with a shade of red that obviously didn't match. The walls are smooth & painted in semi-gloss. 🤦 I was not born yesterday, unfortunately for them.
The "specialized team" member from Airbnb has asked me repeatedly for document and photos I uploaded 3 weeks ago...in THEIR system. I can see them in there. Pro tip for indie film crews: don't trash a historic home. Not only is it shitty to do, it hurts my heart.

In CO in the 90s we didn't have AC, only central heat. There were a few really hot days, but we had ceiling fans for those. My dad retired in 2002 and installed AC that year because he couldn't hang in the summer. 😒 Now I think it's pretty much non-negotiable there thanks to climate change.
