Not the point of the article, but DO NOT use a (red-green) divergent colour palette for symbolizing sequential data. You shouldn't ever use a divergent palette for sequential data, but esp not red-green, which can appear like below for people w/ protanopia colourblindness #cartography #mapchat 🧪

Really the oinly use-case that I was fine with (that I've seen) was a former grad student who was not a native English speaker. They wrote first draft, fed it into the machine, and modified what came out. Was v transparent about it in the thesis, including with examples.

This is due to a combination of the removal of photo radar as an enforcement tool by the province and as a result of road design. The automated enforcement piece is easy to fix. The street design is a longer, but much needed change. #yyc #yyccc

Wow -that's quite an event! I am surprised to see the downstream lakes, which (I think?) appear to be considerably larger, are unchanged after the flood. And also quite interesting that the debris flow starts so suddenly halfway down the valley. Change in surficial materials there maybe?

This is absolutely gerrymandering. Breaking up urban ridings to swamp them with rural voters is textbook in this country, in Alberta and Saskatchewan especially, for keeping conservative parties in power because urban votes are diluted. It's very deliberate, especially in this proposal.
