I am so sick of being lied to every second of my life. I am so sick of watching human bodies being tossed into the fucking trash. And with glee! They're so excited about causing pain. How does a person like that live? I know I've asked that before but no one has given me a solid answer.
And that's so fucking cool! Like, that's such a ridiculous privilege, to always be able to learn. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to steal the joy of discovery from themselves. Even, and perhaps especially, when it's hard. Because the feeling when it clicks is sublime.
But it's not just art, right? It's life. Every day I learn incredible new things from the artists I work with, the friends and partner I love so dearly, from strangers whose perspectives I've never experienced. From my mother, who lived more life in a single decade than I have in my entire 34 years.
One of the greatest joys of my job is seeing all these amazing talents who are by and large already top of their game professionally still pushing themselves to unlock a new level, to find a new style, to perfect what already reads to a layperson like me as perfection.
