If it gets to the point that you qualify as a refugee you might have a shot… But generally if there’s a national healthcare system I think they take your health and ability to work into account 😢 It’s the same reason some countries don’t want retirees moving there.

We work somewhat closely with one of our state depts in my job, so one of my kids is already connected with them to get help w college funding and maybe a job later. Though I’m hoping she’ll be able to leave. My other has a mystery illness so until we get a label there’s no applying for anything 🫠

LOL yeah not likely! Though with some places the investment can be real estate, so we could use retirement money to buy a house and it would work. Right now we’re just kind of eyeballing where we might want to go to start research and maybe fact finding trips
Yeah I worry about that with my kids… Both have disabilities but they hopefully won’t be disabling to the point they can’t work in a few years 🤞 My youngest just seems to keep adding symptoms though so who knows 😕

Oh yeah I did want to look into Ireland, though it may be more on the expensive side. Canada would be great but we’d be looking at being retirees and it’s hard to get residency there when you’re older. Any of those would be great for my kids to “land” in though! 😄
I actually looked into that a lot years ago - my grandma’s dad was from Sicily. And he was still a citizen there when she was born, but there’s a cutoff date: women don’t “count” as being able to pass down citizenship until after she was born 🫠 It was going to be too much legal hassle to pursue 😢
