@xmencomicssteve.bsky.social

Boxes and boxes of X-Men and X-adjacent comics. Collecting since 1986, chasing all the X-books - getting close to the finish line. Favs are both Wolverines, Storm, Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde. Also weird 80’s indie comics. Also cooking/recipe shares.

I’ve been working on a focaccia, but not the longer proof bubbly kind - it’s a spongier version (if that makes sense). And I haven’t done a cheese focaccia - what kind of cheese(s) do you like you use?

You’re very welcome! After I posted it thought to myself that it’s more about Peach Momoko’s process and includes Ultimate X-amen, not just focused on that comic. So even better? And pls watch at your leisure

That would be really cool. Continue to love this comic. And maybe the best example I’ve seen of why you can’t just give the readers what they want. I (and so many others) had no idea I wanted or needed this kind of X-title.

Made Soda Bread Focaccia today 🍜🍽️ #homecooking With no yeast eats more like a soda bread than a bubbly focaccia. But a great way for anyone intimidated by yeast baking (like I was) to make tasty bread. Recipe pic incl I added the sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pepitas

Photo of about half a loaf of Soda Bread Focaccia, on a brown and white plate, on a red placemat. Inside is a spongy-ish texture, top and sides nicely browned and crunchy-ish. On top are evenly sprinkled sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pepita (pumpkin) seeds, salt. Photo of part of a photocopied newspaper article with a recipe for Soda Bread Focaccia. Photo of a round pizza on a plate, on a red placemat. The crust is pretty nicely browned, but sauce has escaped in one place just a bit where the crust dough wasn’t high enough. Toppings, that look kind of mixed in with the melted cheese, include sliced green pepper, red onion and garlic.

To be fair, Professor Xavier is A Jerk could be every comic that Charles appears in. But as I was doing my Claremont Run read thru I took a pic of the “next issue” teaser as well as the first page one.

End of a UXM comic teasing the Professor Xavier Is A Jerk headline First page of a UXM comic stating that Professor Xavier Is A Jerk. And it’s correct.

The daughters of Hermann Göring's aide - who refused for years to talk with art-theft investigators - put their home in Argentina up for sale, and GUESS WHAT.

Oh damn - thank you Shane, I have some catching up to do! I devoured the UK shows/movies that made it across the Pond in the 80’s, will really enjoy watching these.

And I am the first to admit while I have loved and watched horror movies for decades, I haven’t delved super deeply into the convos in and around the genre. So maybe this is Horror 101, but the statement really resonated with me as a viewer of horror.

Recently listening to a podcast (can’t remember which one..) a comment was made that we’re partly getting such good horror movies atm because it’s one of the few places where writers+directors are given a lot of storytelling freedom. So, creativity. Interesting concept, right?

Thank you for this explanation! The UK part pinged my memory for sure, and of course it makes sense being a Genesis video. I was a big Genesis (both PG & PC) fan.

I had forgotten about this, it’s crazy. Can see and hear that video with my mind’s eye+ears. And wasn’t there a follow up weekly show with these puppets and various skits? Or am I imagining that?

Needed to cook a package of bacon and had a potato, so tonight made Bacon Shishito (pepper) Cheese Fries with the air fryer 🍜 #homecooking

Photo of Bacon Shishito Cheese Fries, on a black plate, on a red placemat. Melted white color Monterey Jack cheese melted over the fries, with crumbled pieces of bacon throughout. Topped with finely chopped shishito peppers.

And maybe showing my age but that Darkside series scared the crap out of me growing up - watched it too young for sure.

Yes, Twilight Zone for sure. Maybe with a side of Tales from the Darkside thrown in for good measure.

I love it! Went on the pull list I swear only partway through the first issue. For my money, it’s the most original (chameleon-like) ongoing series out there. The various story/design structure approaches should be taught at universities.

[whispering so Gail doesn’t hear] It’s a really really good run and a great place to jump on, in terms of story.

To clarify: there’s no screen, it’s walking on the glass only. Showed this to my son and it wasn’t obvious to him, figured I’d explain.

Nice pickup! I love both the comic and the movie. Those 1980’s Marvel official movie adaption limited series really get me.
