Hang in there my depression people. You WILL find what works for you. It sucks. You are loved. You are needed. Do what you gotta do to get through. I'm going to go mow the fucking grass in the rain, or puke, or both.
They have to figure out what works for them. Many find great relief with medication. For some it is unplugging. For almost no one dealing with depression is the fix input from you. A compliment can help. "That sucks," can help. "Cheer up," you might as well be telling them to lift a skyscraper.
It agitates me and irritates me to the extreme. I have to recognize the depression setting in. I have to force myself to catch a gear and engage. So if you know someone dealing with depression know this. There is no "cheering up." You can't tell them to "hang in there."
I hate it. Makes me want to puke or blow my damned brains out at times but I know that activity will snap the cycle. Achieving something, no matter the emotional toll of forcing myself into it works. Here is the catch. Someone else trying to make me active has the opposite effect.
I tried the medication route. Can't do it. Everything makes me feel like a zombie and or sets off my anxiety. I have to deal with my depression through sheer force of will. I am fortunate to know what breaks my cycle. For me it's work. When I feel it taking hold I force myself to work.
My depression pairs with anxiety. Not only does everything and I mean everything sound like shit I also stress and ungodly levels about either not doing or having to do them. Sleeping, eating, working, playing, sex and or interacting with people bring such negative emotions it is painful.
Going to share something a bit personal. For those of you that don't deal with or understand depression you must understand depression isn't sadness. Depression is pain. There is no "cheering up" from it. It is what it is and it just sucks. Here's how I beat mine.
