Just watched the new Devo doc and I'm completely worn out—I think I laughed out loud or jumped out of my chair roughly once every 15 seconds. Wildly entertaining & full of surprises even for an old Devo fan. Despite the unavoidably bittersweet ending, it left me feeling mainly joy. Two spuds up. 🥔🥔

An excellent point by @zoejardiniere.bsky.social: the asylum seekers in hotels are here legally - that’s why they are given accommodation if they need it - yet they can’t legally work, contrary to what most UK citizens want. That’s one reason they can’t pay for their own accommodation.

If you accept the premise that "illegal Migration" is a serious issue, then you are part of the problem. This is a moral panic and every time you affirm it as an issue you play into the signification spiral. Progressives/left must reject the issue itself not just the "solutions" of the right.

A client is going through a divorce RN because he took 100k out of his IRA to go buy guns, didn't replace the money, and is now being taxed on it. When I describe his wife as 'apoplectic' I think that is, if anything, understating it. There's such a weird consumer pathology at play here
