It is only barely hyperbolic to say NIMBYism and the downstream effects of making affordable housing inaccessible are why Democrats have lost so much ground.
I think a lot of younger people don't have an issue with their ages exactly. It's that they have shown they are not equipped to handle the situation. Many of these members are eligible for full retirement and could be comfortable regardless. They're collectively giving Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

This conversation is *very* hard to have in public. But we can't assume it's happening privately, and no one is incentivized to have it with the electeds themselves.
Per @ballotready.org: Dems have won 3 upsets for open state senate seats that Trump won - & all were uncontested in prior cycles. IA 35 - uncontested in 2010, 2014 & 2018 IA 1 - uncontested in 2014 & 2018 PA 36 - uncontested in 2022 This is why @runforsomething.net recruitment never stops.
This is selfish ego-driven leadership that misreads the moment & demoralizes the base. We have to keep calling these leaders out publicly & people have to jump in to primary them to force them affirmatively make their case on why they're the right people to lead us *now.*

The most impressive thing about this campaign is how *creative* they are. They’re trying new stuff! Multiple times during the last few months I’ve thought “wow, I’ve never seen a campaign do that.” Much more of that needed everywhere.

If I could gift parents/mothers in my life something it'd be no weird feelings about using daycare. I know for a fact it was good for me as a kid + good for my parents (we all had great memories of that time). PS: I was also a formula baby. I now have 3 degrees + a good life. It's going to be okay.

Conservatives have spent decades pushing the false message that daycare is dangerous. They created a whole satanic panic! And their goal was to guilt moms into staying home full time or diverting energy they could devote to being a boss at work to being a boss of a nanny at home.
My kid is 11(!) now but I feel this in my BONES. Still pals with some daycare buds. I remember my kid twisting out of my arms at ~5mos to try and get to his provider. Also did a happy dance when he went to public pre-k at 4.
I tell people all the time - daycare has been the best thing to happen to our lives as parents, in large part because of the community we've found and the strength and support of that community. Agree w/ everything Amanda says here
So we've found our parent community, and our kids have their friend community, and also our kids have the daycare parents community as bonus adults who love them and help them thrive (and sometimes even offer to help or mentor them in areas we cannot). It's the best.
