For me, it’s storytelling structure & visuals totally counter to Western literary & video storytelling. My brain has to deal with different juxtaposition of visuals & emotions. Watching a drama means more surprises, more emotional release, and an aesthetic appreciation that includes wonder.

The story did lack in the power balance. The main couple (& their entourage) became increasingly "real" while the enemies weren't even DC quality.
My view: #coronersdiary is straight up competence porn. Leads are quite competent too. I am happy.
You are reminding me that 2 recent dramas suffered from rushed ends: prisoner of beauty and princess's gambit. Neither was as bad as A Journey to Love, but if you've got 36-40 episodes, why not plan for the last 3 to make a well-paced ending? (Autocorrect turned that into "welding"; that too...)

Yes ... NiF had much higher and wider stakes, far beyond the personal, from the very beginning. ZH stumbled into higher stakes, then kinda turned back to the personal, choosing out to carry the effing McGuffin away to bury.
