Teixeira was arrested a month after they found out that documents were getting leaked online. They didn't even get a warrant to look for MORE classified documents after the first batch was found at Mar a Lago for seven months. They even had video of Trump goons moving boxes to evade searchers.
The case didn't fail. The case was started too late and too much deference was given to Trump. Cannon helped. Garland helped. It was a joint effort.

That is an open and shut case even with Cannon there, and she'd have had a harder time delaying if they'd have acted with the same speed that they did for, say, Teixeira. They know HOW to move swiftly. They chose not to for Trump.

It's very likely that Muslim voters handed Michigan to him. If he hadn't put up numbers that, among GOP, ONLY he ever has with hispanic males, he very well may have lost Florida. Even LGBTQ+ voted for him more than they have for any other GOP.
Trump also broke GOP records with minority males of all demographics. They liked what he was selling a lot more than they liked Romney or McCain. I find the focus on "white voters" to be just weird. Every demo except I think black women drifted to trump at least a little.

That last one is tricky, except we know for a fact there are 100 classified documents at least. That's 5-20 pages EACH, all of them individually classified. So 500-2,000 individual pages he could be charged for and not ONE of them was able to risk getting out? Seems like an easy decision to me.
For the classified documents case it really is, though. On one hand, it's "Did he have the documents and can we prove it?" Yes. "Can we prove that he moved them around trying to hide them?" Yep. "Is there any amount of classified documents we can charge him with that won't be subject to graymail?"
