Sharing one of my favorites for #InverteFest: Cotinis mutabilis, the figeater beetle. The pictures are about 10 months old, but I figured I'd dust them off. This one was raised as a class pet from the larva I found in my backyard.

A close-up of a figeater beetle clinging to a piece of wood. Its exoskeleton is a shiny iridescent green with a golden brown trim around the border. A close-up of a fig eater beetle on a dead leaf. Its exoskeleton is a shiny iridescent green that is a bit yellower in this light. Around the edge of its wing covers is a golden border.

It feels like it should be, but technically it isn't. However, I think the "crave that mineral" meme applies, since it's close enough.

Iodine is technically a mineral because it can occur in a solid crystalline form naturally on the Earth. The iodine that's added to salt is usually in the form of potassium iodide, which is a compound, and is, itself a salt. Though, because it is not naturally occurring, it's actually not a mineral.

You should treat RFK Jr. like a man who is personally trying to murder millions of children. Because that's literally what he is. And he's succeeding.

But they use sterile needles, and he doesn't want to be sterile. Besides, lampreys have a natural microbiome. /s but I swear that has to be the level of incomprehension they are operating on.

I grew up around the corner...this is sickening. ICE jumped the shark a while ago, but this makes it all the more obvious. Thank you for amplifying.
