The man who rescued him said he wasn't sure he was ready for another dog, and that adopting a puppy wouldn't be fair to the puppy since the man is 80 years old. And he said that this boi is so similar to his beloved old girl that he feels like she must have had a paw in sending this boi his way.
The very good boi he rescued is a 4 yo mix who sat calmly in the golf cart the whole time and only put his paw out when he wanted me to scritch him more (with both hands instead of one). He was going to be euthanized the day he was rescued because of lack of adopter interest and shelter capacity.
I got to pet a dog yesterday, not a common occurence for me since I have no pets and the dog I do love, my niece's corgi Darwin, lives several states away. His person ran the lot where I parked my car. He rescued the dog the same day he put his 13-year-old dog down after a dx of thyroid cancer.
This particular kitty is okay. And I found them earlier in the morning than would usually happen since I went outside to reshoot my exterior videos for my class assignment. But sometimes pets left tied up or in carriers are NOT okay.
Today was such a mess I forgot it started with finding a cat abandoned on our property, in a carrier. š Here's the thing. I know people do that out of desperation. They don't see a better solution, and feel like abandoning at a shelter is their only option. But it's not safe for the animal, y'all.
