To output in 4k, you may need to create a new timeline in your project and manually set it to 4k dimensions, then copy your project over to that timeline. Depends on the program so I can't get too specific sorry
Codec is listed as "format" at the very top - you will have to select a non-mp4 file output to use codecs other than h.264/265. Which of course means you'll need a program that can play other file types but yeah.
You're probably on top of it but random things I'd try: force 4K export even on 1080p footage, different codec, constant bitrate instead of VBR/CQP just so you have more control over bitrate, and also crank up the bitrate and see if it's just a matter of the crt filter getting screwed by compression
As the guy getting paid in this scenario, it actually ends up making sense. Streaming is much more lucrative than youtube videos, but has horrible discoverability. It can sometimes be the case that a streamer can't afford NOT to pay somebody to edit for them.

I think "Watchword" works with this limitation the best? Still doesn't look like it'll expand your vocab, but it allows for short-word play, where the others filter out people who aren't hitting scrabble bingos. More passive skills + grid play instead of single words at a time.
There's a sudden rash of "scrabble balatro"s hitting steam (at least 3). I think there's an inherent issue to a game like that: players are limited by their vocabulary, and the games don't inherently do anything to expand them. You're stuck playing what you know unless you do independent study.
