This show is very stressful, I gotta say. As a fluent Italian-speaker, and a native English speaker, the interrogation scenes where the cops misinterpret what's being said or mistranslate questions or statements was disturbing to say the least.

Actually, this new series was made in consultation with Knox and with her blessing, unlike some other adaptations. It includes some fictional elements (merging of people into single characters for the sake of flow for TV) but it seems very faithful to what really happened to her.

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

True. But that's why conservative leadership is so obsessed with pushing culture war crap. These people are RICH-rich, and if they can prevent bonds of solidarity from forming between poor people, that's a win. And that's what's been happening since at least the 70s.

But progressives? It's an immediate concern 'cause people are losing their lives. LGBTQ kids are facing conversion therapy threats. Sex workers are facing finance discrimination. Poor people are going bankrupt from medical bills. Money is going to genocides. Election after election: nothing changes.

Conservatives especially can afford to make a 50-year plan for christo-fascism because their immediate material circumstances aren't dependent on the outcome of any one election: they're largely fine, no matter who wins. Liberal centrists are mostly ok because "the arc of history leans left".

I've thought about this a lot: why progressives want bold action immediately, while liberals and conservatives seem more willing to play the long game. I've come to the conclusion it's because libs/cons are mainstream and likely have more stable finances and unthreatened civil rights.

I think you're confusing progressives with liberals. People on the progressive side want tangible policies first. Liberals are happy with fluff, symbolic victories, and savior candidates, all so they can "have brunch" and not have to think about politics for another few years.

Every. Single. Time. I can't imagine how tiring it is for SWs to have to constantly rebuild, to see websites initially welcome them and their clients only to discard them for the sake of "community".

Progressives have other, more important things to worry about. The think pieces on this ad campaign explained the eugenics and white supremacist dog whistles, and now a bunch of lib-to-left customers won’t shop at AA. It’s that simple. Now, about the FBI being used to track down state senators…

Counterpoint: if you ordered a "hot dog, hold the bun", that restaurant wouldn't charge you any less and would still ring it up in its system as a hot dog.

And here I thought they were going to make a manly-man's menu and call them "Hommelettes", so that men don't feel emasculated when they order them.

In light of Trump’s worsening cruelty, vindictiveness, and ever more belligerent attacks on democracy, many of you ask: ā€œWhat can I do now?ā€ Here are a baker’s dozen of recommendations. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/what-you-can-do-f3d

"The reason the Dems are a failed party is because they have collectively decided that the best policy for any issue is a halfway compromise between a good idea and fascist bigotry, rather than fighting for any sort of coherent ethical framework" This is such a perfect quote, I'm gonna memorize it!

If it sounds too good to be true, it's made up as clickbait. Who exactly would have been a fly on the wall in that PRIVILEGED conversation between a lawyer and their client? There's too much made-up nonsense online, and I'm very scared at our rapidly decaying sensitivity of our Bullshit-o-Meters.

just remember destroying the economy isn’t an accident, it’s a recruiting mechanism while making ICE the only well funded job program in the USA. The fascist super rich don’t need an economy in climate change hell, they have property and need an armed force to protect it.

Today we learned Andrew Cuomo is directly coordinating with Donald Trump, even as this President sends masked agents to rip our neighbors off the streets and guts the social services so many New Yorkers rely on. It’s disqualifying and a betrayal of our city.
