When a president decides to disregard the will of the American people, you’re right, that’s the mark of authoritarian rule. The White House has notified Congress that it plans to cancel $4.9 billion in foreign aid funding that lawmakers had already approved, doing so without their consent.
I hope people realize how absolutely fucked this situation is. This isn’t normal. People are resigning all over the place because the government is mishandling our data, ruining our public health services, and generally making Americans less safe.

In Trump v. Wilcox in May the SCOTUS made clear that “for cause” protections apply to members of the Federal Reserve Board. Which means a tweet from Trump’s Fed Housing Finance Chair claiming that Cook committed mortgage fraud constitutes “cause.” And that’s bogus. This must be fought.
