the only other possible contender, at least on the dem side who has expressed interest and would really shake things up, might be nirav shah who was the state cdc director during the pandemic and was/is pretty broadly popular and everyone knows who he is.

I do not deny the existence of class interests as such. I do deny class distinctions always being the most important and salient divisions in any given circumstances and I do deny that having class interests addressed will automatically supersede deeply seated preexisting bigotries on the whole.

i think thats a pretty reasonable source of skepticism, but fwiw his district for state house is r+20 and is held by the gop house leader, and the senate seats is like r+30. doesn't shock me he didnt bother, a lot of the people who run for those kinds of seats here are basically placeholders

her popularity dipped a bit this year cause of the trump stuff, but her favorability here is second only to angus. also easy to forget she is from rural cd2 and so is able to do better in northwestern maine than other dems while still bringing votes in the south/midcoast

people forget the greens do kind of insanely well here in state wide races. they were getting like 10% in gubernatorial races in the 90s/00s. 5% in the 2020 senate. they're still a total joke full of cranks but they have an appeal to a certain kind of mainer

for sure. maine had a similar back to the land movement as vermont in the 70s, but at a smaller scale. so there's already a pretty strong crunchy undercurrent. then you add in no longer needing to live in boston for jobs and the feeling youre talking about. its a recipe for big demographic shifts

i think thats less to do with differing groups of people and more so the same groups of people being incoherent. the venn diagram of "i like zohran" and "purge the (((zionists)))" is way more of a circle than i think a lot of people realize
