The local RG university here has a campus in China, with numbers of students from China visiting the UK campus to do part or all of their course. At the end of the exam period, these students are expected to return immediately to China, without the opportunity to graduate with their classmates.

For decades the Murdoch press has shrieked about high taxes, to the point a large proportion of the poorest in the country believe they are overtaxed. Freezing of the tax threshold has made it worse. And the "I'm paying for the sick/ elderly/unemployed" mentality makes the case for raising tax hard

It was not a gift from Spain, these were conquered territories. I suppose you think California, New, Mexico, Colorado, Utah etc were simply "ceded" by Mexico, rather than conquered in Palk's war on Mexico. The USA was in large part built on the appropriation and annihilation of indigenous tribes.
