No, it’s super fucked. It’s supposed to have a caveat for citizens & visa holders (sold as anti China) but is being called out as xenophobic.
He’s been out there with other Texas Dems & they’re pulling support all over. And we’ve grown a lot. I believe the Latino vote will flip back considerably & S. Asian votes can be increased. There’s currently some v f’d up anti Chinese legislation as well but there’s a lot of potential gain.
I don’t have hope for a lot here but I do think this guy can pull from both sides & it’s state wide. He’s my best hope for now. Districts are going to be a nightmare.
He’s great. My husband turned me onto him via a video of him using bible verses to challenge the GOP. They didn’t really know how to respond since the rep speaking on freedom of religion was a pastor.
There’s a good chance James Talarico is working up to a run for Senate in TX. Currently TX House. Proud Progressive who’s also a pastor which will play well here.

I’ve known incompetence was a feature of Authoritarianism but I didn’t account for this level of incompetence. In my hope of us overcoming, I think it’s better than the alternative but then hits are elsewhere. Ex: CDC.

I have some friends who were home schooled. We relate b/c we’re all socially anxious bookworms w/deep rooted trauma. We also all moved away for college but had zero life skills so that was fun.

They’re also narcissists who don’t respond to legitimate criticism and/or anything that may trigger “bad feelings” in self awareness while releasing dopamine. Also, their inability to self reflect leads to them being blocked which further minimizes dopamine reward levels.
You know the boots on the ground election cycle volunteers? And the County Dem volunteers? Hear me out but what if we ignored them entirely & placed our focus elsewhere?

We’re not going to get out of this without unity. On this I agree. But the hypothetical candidate scenario is further driving the wedge. It’s yelling “Just FYI, I’ll negotiate your right to exist” w/absolutely no need. It’s a made up scenario to sow discourse. It’s divisive & hurtful.
The stage is hypothetical. We’re only 9 mo’s in w/this admin & 2028 is a long ways away. Perhaps focus should be uniting against the reality of (9 mo’s in) authoritarianism & navigating the landscape of less fair mid terms in 2026. Also I didn’t know who Obama was in 2005. Your “stage” isn’t real.

Right! Boots on the ground Dems are mostly progressive. We actually contribute which is why we have every right to our opinions. Many of the Dems that post on here are nothing like those I’ve met while volunteering. And yes, they make us look bad & are part of the problem.
Same to everything but the military. Voted Obama, Bernie, Warren in the primaries. Progressive who volunteered w/Dems in the last 5 election cycles. Also, the (2028!) hypotheticals are so unnecessary. Maybe instead, people stop pushing for a bigot & we find ourselves a better candidate.

Just finished a Hindsight episode on the 1st King of Iraq. It covered the Arab Revolt & how the UK & France later w/drew their deal & instead divided up the area & included a promise of a Jewish home in Palestine. Just found it interesting in relation to my thoughts on India’s Partition.
One of the most beautiful things about art is how it’s created from human perspective & emotion. Art that isn’t practiced is art that says nothing. It’s empty & the value is lost. I make digital art as a hobby & though I might use photoshop, it’s an accessory to my photography. I steer clear of AI.
Personally I think AI is terrible & that it will only perpetuate our societal problems but I did find the differences interesting.
Something else I found interesting. I was reading about AI relationships & though the common denominator is loneliness, many of the women created an equality supporting bf whilst men were more likely to create a submissive gf. I felt like this said a lot on R wing facilitation of male loneliness.
My husband told me about this & it checks out. I’ve dated both millennial & Gen X men. In my experience, most (not all) of the Gen X men treated feminism as something to tolerate. They weren’t openly anti feminist but weren’t pro either. Millennials were more value aligned. W/Gen Z, misogyny spiked.

Technically, they (to some extent) will be protected hence why they’re a cult of death. Less people to form an uprising. Climate change will kill the majority but not all. The monstrous mass murderers will hide in their bunkers & relocate elsewhere before eventually turning on each other.

There’s also a lot of trauma which is something I’ve thought about. Specifically trauma from normalization of mass murder. We’ve been doing school shooting drills for years now. What does it do to young kids? It definitely normalizes but it’s also a repetition of a traumatic scenario.

I recently read about a church that held an educational seminar on sexual abuse with their constituents. The pastor invited an advocate to speak & they spoke openly about how it’s prevalent, accessibility via trust, victims being silenced, repeat offenders, etc. Rare but good for them.
