Dear Democratic Leaders, If you won’t stand up for trans people and their rights, you’re tellling me you won’t stand up for *anyone* or *any rights* the second they come under attack. You’re telling me you don’t stand for anything at all. Also, they’re *people*. Grow a spine or get out the way.

Kamala was right, "when we fight, we win", but then she didn't fight. (and yes, i voted for her, knocked on doors for her, wrote hundreds of get out the vote letters for her). Bottom line: having one's rights put up for debate is a deeply dehumanizing thing to experience, and dems shouldn't do it.
They do need to be able to say that the attacks on trans people are a sickening and unamerican attack on a tiny community of citizens who are just trying to live their lives. They need to include a trans speaker at the 2028 DNC (as was done in 2012, 16, and 20, but not in 24). +
I'm not saying that the 2028 nominee's main slogan has to be "trans liberation now." (it shouldn't be) But they do need to be able to message "We do not throw marginalized communities under the bus. America must be a country where we look out for those who can't look out for themselves." +
But instead they basically ignored us while subjecting us to an unprecedented attack campaign that is ongoing this week (some republicans are literally calling for our mass institutionalization, which would of course involve forced conversion therapy). +
And I hope you can do some thinking about why the group whose rights (to health care, employment, housing, or even just the ability to exist in public spaces) are being put up for debate might have an issue with said debate. It would be one thing if the dems stood strong for trans rights and lost. +

Exactly this. Kamala lost while steadfastly refusing to say anything in support of trans people, despite hundreds of millions of dollars being spent attacking us. It’s wild to me to imply “Kamala’s support for trans people cost her the presidency.”
Even this framing from PSA sounds deranged, there is no worthy “debate” over trans rights. Trans people deserve full rights and equal protections and freedom under the law full stop. There is no reasonable other “side” on this issue.

Knocking down low density housing and building high density seems very necessary. But then there's the issue of real estate investors buying up many of those developed properties, and that doesn't help things either.
So there's a bunch of new housing far east of LA, in the "Inland Empire", and generally housing prices fall the farther away from the city you are. Add geological complexity (hills/mountains, rivers, etc), and LA, SF, Portland, Seattle have pretty much developed every acre of land available. +
But like, I can't say if that was a San Luis Obispo thing or a Cali thing. I *think* a large issue with home prices in places like LA is simply density/transportation. Everyone wants to live close to the city but there's only so much housing there. But there's cheap housing in Bakersfield/Fresno. +

When I moved to San Luis Obispo in 2016, I moved into a new development, and it was the first new one in the city in a decade. After we got there they've added thousands of new homes, though (though prices rose rapidly). +

Absolutely. Buttigieg wasn’t as bad, and I’ll give him a chance to do better (and he must), but Newsom has already shown that he will throw us (and unhoused people!) under the bus to get elected, and that is something he can’t undo. I’ll never be able to trust him.
This is important. And before anyone says “but Trump is worse”… In a primary, our choice isn’t “Trump vs Newsom”. It’s choosing which dem we want running against trump’s successor. And in that primary, we *must* reject Newsom. His treatment of unhoused people is also awful (look it up).
Another story that’s a nightmare. I mean that literally—ICE seems to construct bizarro realities that follow the “logic” of a bad dream. Nothing makes sense.

I honestly don’t know the answers to this. But it’s something I think a lot about. The US is simply too powerful to not have authoritarians constantly attempting to take control of it, and it’s not built in a way that can reliably hold them off.
The problem is that, like Frodo, I’m not sure we know the way. Is it possible to do this work without needing to possess the ring and thus risking (or even ensuring) one’s own corruption? Or is there a way to create the right circumstances by which a ring-bearer would actually go through with it? +
The solution, of course, is uncomfortable: we need to divest of our power. I don’t know what that looks like, but it is the strongest argument I’ve heard for anarchism (the kind @billieiswriting.bsky.social and @dr-maeforrest.bsky.social talk about, not the pop culture chaos one). +
The United States is too powerful a country to be invaded. But it’s also too powerful a thing for those who seek power to not want to claim it for their own. Unfortunately, our democracy gave them the ability to do exactly that. +

It's also steamy. Both books were enjoyable, but were my first foray into this type of book, so I don't really have anything to compare them to in terms of quality! Both are very inclusive, leftist, etc, which I appreciate.
TJ Anderson (non-binary) is the author! I haven't read their other stuff yet, but I keep meaning to. This was just their most sapphic book, from what I heard. Oh, and I also enjoyed One Last Stop by Casey McQuisten, which dabbles in sci-fi (time travel-ish?) but mostly is just a sapphic romance.
The one I read that was very not particularly serious, and pretty fun, was a polyam/sapphic-ish romance type book called Triple Sec, about a pansexual woman bartender. It has some definitely steamy scenes, so if that's not your thing, avoid it. I've also heard other books by same author are good.

Honestly, the conservative outrage over Cracker Barrel is a relief. They have a snowflake meltdown when anyone or anything transitions. At least their transphobia is consistent.
Right? Like… Littman (and Marchiano, who assisted, but did not co-author) have such a pattern of twisting things that it’s not hard to imagine the same being true for the survey. And they also might not have done this, but some random person might have, and Littman would never have known.
I think a lot about how the original study for ROGD was an anonymous survey on SurveyMonkey, for which no identifying information was collected or preserved. Meaning it's literally impossible to say that some of the answers weren't from a bunch of sock puppets.

Proposed neurodivergence test: computer (program, app, whatever) scans all writing of the individual over the last year, and analyzes it for two metrics - sentence length and count of atypical punctuation (parentheses, em dashes, etc). (next skeet for disclaimers) (I'm half-ish joking about this)
