It's slowly becoming accepted around here that Von Braun and his team got the Mother of All Second Chances in life. With few exceptions they kept their heads down and did what their new country wanted them to do. Also, Wallace absolutely HATED Von Braun's guts. So that's one point for Wehrner.
I also think the move of Space Command (not Space Force) to my hometown of 30 years is a pure political move. But if all you have is dumb redneck jokes you are cordially invited to GFY.
30+ year Huntsvillian here. (Yes, I'm wearing shoes and know how to use indoor plumbing.) But It's also a weird fit because this is such a thoroughly Army town. I sure wish we could be known for something homegrown.

I hate agreeing with this but I do. For decades Huntsville promoted itself as the smart place in Alabama, but none of this "smartness" was homegrown.
One question is, will civilian employees be willing to move to HSV from Colorado? For instance, area schools are at or near the top in Alabama, but that just makes them maybe average nationally.
