I’m one of those people who generally agrees with unitary executive theory, but believes that executive should be much weaker than what it has become. There are dozens of us.

I’m not in the market for 1Ls or recent grads anymore, but I’d think basic Word, Excel, and Acrobat skills are definitely needs. Beyond the basics, they should become proficient with shortcuts. They really speed things up, and at the billing rates commanded these days, you owe clients efficiency.

We just moved my great-grandparents’ clock to my place from my mom’s. It was a fixture in my grandparents’ house when I was growing up. The same gentleman who has serviced it my entire life will be coming to reassemble it. I’m happy to have it, but it feels a little strange.
