So they were shooting a commercial for fascism in MacArthur Park yesterday.
I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy. I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

It's really not conceivable that there can be 3 years and 9 months more of this without there being some kind of total breakdown in the political, constitutional, or economic order.

Reports in the media that U.S. citizens have been deported are false. Deportation is a legal term specifically applying to foreign nationals. These U.S. citizens have been kidnapped and illegally removed to a foreign country by the U.S. government.

It's a minor point amidst the serial violations of due process occurring here, but one of Trump's conditions to Columbia University for retaining funding was to ban masks. But the people sweeping up students are masked armed security officials.
We need to call this what it is: another illegal, extreme, and dangerous attempt to take power away from the American people and hand it over the wealthiest man in the world, Elon Musk, who wishes to decide which U.S. citizens can and can’t vote.
When scholars of authoritarianism and fascism leave U.S. universities because of the deteriorating political situation here, we should really worry.
Trump just signed an executive order banning vote by mail and ordering the defunding of any state that does not follow through with it as well as engage in massive voter roll purges. There won't be free and fair elections ever again. If you're waiting for 2026, it's already too late.
The most obvious lesson to draw from the leaked Signal chat is that these people really are morons. It's not a public act, it's not a schtick, there's not some secret back room where they drop the facade. They are genuinely stupid, incompetent people.
