I'd disagree there, SM is a product. If, in a town hall, someone was showing footage of, say, violent porn, or extreme violence, they would be ejected and likely have a police experience for a public disorder offence. It should be the same online.

I agree to an extent with that but, as much as I generally hate the phrase, the genie is out of the bottle with these things. We also have legislated age ratings on all forms of entertainment to stop children from seeing inappropriate content. Why would online platforms be any different?
I agree on most things but I feel this is genuinely different. Previously, to access particular material, you had to buy something physical (magazine etc) so if the shop allowed you to do so, they got punished. SM allows all of this extreme content with next-to-no accountability for platforming it

The BMA would do a lot better by using the ‘pounds & pence’ figures, rather than the % I don’t think the general public actually knows what their hourly rates come in at. This isn’t to say that your cleaners, or any other job with a similar wage should be lower, but doctors should be higher.
The BMA are blaming the previous governments, hence them wanting parity with their 2008 pay. I’ve already suggested the Wealth Tax could support this, so I’m not entirely sure what your argument is?

Absolutely, as long as the gov’t at the time allows a free vote, this legislation would be protected from ‘whip influence’. Enough valid questioning is being raised on the legislation as it is, further amendments would only face further scrutiny & challenge.
As Lewis says only to a point & it’s at the will of the gov’t / majority of the time. As it’s a free vote MPs are allowed to draw their red lines. There seems to be enough ‘dissent’ as the tabloids would call it (I’d say differing opinions, which is healthy) as it is, never mind future changes.
Surely you argue the merits of a piece of legislation and vote based on what it is. Then if it’s revisited you do the same and, if you feel the changes are unacceptable, you vote against it. You don’t vote against something for some hypothetical future changes.

I’ve argued for a long time that we need auto-enrolment in benefits, credits etc. How big a step could this be so that the complexities of form-filling are replaced by an automated process?
Absolutely, reality was we had a great deal within the EU which is nowhere near the deal we’d get if we were to request to rejoin. If only we realised how good we actually had it back then, instead of listening to charlatans and career liars.
We, a relative minnow (compared to our view of ourselves) left the world’s largest trading bloc…for reasons. We rejected the economic protections that membership inherently gave us. Now we’re essentially crossing our fingers that our biggest trading partner isn’t going to slap tariffs on us! Yay!
