Can’t say I’m surprised. The OPS organization and its employees have consistently indicated their lack of respect for residents. From their approach to the so/called “Freedom“ convoy occupation their announcement supporting Poillievre they’re shown their disdain for unbiased and fair policing.
My experience shopping is that people are still buying US as much as before. They may say they’re not or may think they are not because retailers are putting red maple leaves on shelves of American goods (labelling them “prepared in Canada”). I’m not saying this is what you’re doing!

Thanks. I’ve found the map online. We’re located in the red area : only had 19.2 mm of rain since June (I have a scientific rain gauge from when I reported precipitation.) We are probably over reacting but we do have a bag packed with essentials (including dog food of course!)

Sorry, haven’t heard much opposition from any elected officials about this. These tariffs are imposed on a country’s goods by a country (and paid by the imposing country ie US ) buyers) so any reciprocal action has to be against the entire country.

Just check the grocery store shelves. Made in Canada and Product of Canada are controlled labels with strict rules on how they’re used (federal government.) Prepared in Canada is not. This story goes into some of the confusion. ici.radio-canada.ca/rci/en/news/...
And most of that “supporting information “ is misleading and dishonest. The grocery stores quickly made up a “prepared in Canada” designation complete with maple leaf logo to let them disguise made in USA products packaged or labelled in Canada as Canadian.
Cute is an overused word but that is the first word that popped into my head!
