Funny, I've visited Washington, D.C. multiple times over the past few years. I've walked all over and used the Metro by myself daytime and evening. I was aware and sensible, but felt no reason to be paranoid or afraid. I'm almost 60 years old.
Here in Tucson, the citizens spoke out and the city council voted to tell a proposed data center to go pound sand - we don't have the water to sustain it. That doesn't mean others won't try, but it was encouraging.

Yep - I volunteer weekly at our local county shelter. Our census for large dogs (over 40 lbs.) is 50 over our capacity, often more. People are having to give up their pets daily because they can't afford to care for them, are being evicted, etc. It's heartbreaking!
