I belong to a group of parents with trans kids. When the littles show up to play I have no idea which are the trans kids and which are the cis siblings. And nobody else at the park knows either.
My family was in a restaurant the other day. Two of my kids are trans. There was a trans woman (t-pride tattoo) at the table next to us. The restaurant held about 200 people. As we left some queer looking young adults came in. Odds are some of them fall under the umbrella. Those stats match that.

Seriously. Iâm an advocate for the trans community and I rarely even use heteronormative except in particular contexts where it makes sense. And cisgender is valuable to describe people who arenât trans. It would be like banning the use of straight or heterosexual.
I feel like they have two separate meaning which means they can both be useful. Homeless people may include couch surfers. But unhoused people donât have that.
Oh I see. Giving up rights is something the trans community is being asked to do in order to save others. But they can do it from under the bus. The scientific literature says that trans care at all ages is life saving.

Realizing today that the estrangement from a family member over my trans kids actually started much earlier due to Dobson's book The Strong Willed Child that I refused to consider as an option. They felt that their kids needed to be a particular way as opposed to just accepting kids as real people.
I had someone recommend The Strong Willed Child book to me. I couldn't get past the first few pages. I'm so glad I didn't. I have a great relationship with that strong willed child now that she's an adult. Their relationship with their adult kids is less great.
I know many families with trans kids and this is definitely inciting fear. It is just making me more determined.
