If anyone's interested I got through around 70 of the 300 pages for The Claws of Axos today. Still on course to finish that one at the end of the week. The rest of the technical paperwork to do tomorrow - costume, make-up and camera booking contracts. Should be simple enough.

I remember the film being shown on BBC2 during the 1980s. Lots of WW2 footage playing with Beatles songs over the top. Like those old film montages backing old songs on Whistle Test in the 70s. Never seen since. Probably with good reason.

The worst I ever saw was the first episode of The War Games in the 1980s (pre VHS). It was like watching the events happening down a coalmine with no lights. Just the occasional white flashing marks when people moved. Good soundtrack though, surprisingly.

When you realise that some actors who had a 50+ year career, they could have anywhere from six to ten files - covering TV and radio. Multiply that with files for everyone who worked for the BBC dating back to the 1930s. A huge amount of paper, mostly unvetted.
The vetting is for one of the archivists to go through the files and remove any contentious material. And remove them, if necessary. They'd then be opened for permanent access. There's many thousands of unvetted boxes. Individual contracts, production files, etc. It's just the tip of the iceberg.
I'm sure I've seen that Script Department page in the Script Unit file. It dates from around the time the drama departments were being shook up just prior to the arrival of Sydney Newman.
If memory serves staff members files are mainly held elsewhere. Bristol, I think. Staff material was fairly restricted even before the current changes. Some of the more general files could probably be at Cav though.
And with Lesley's departure Simon then became the longest running current presenter, despite having only started eleven months earlier.
The crossover between Lesley and Tina was only three shows. Tina first appeared on 5 April, Lesley's last show was 12 April 1979.
