My second favorite thing about ALIENS, rewatching it for the first time in 20 years, is how they cast an actress called Janette Goldstein as one of the Marines, covered her in bronzer or something and had her play a character named “Vasquez”

I for one think it was cool and good that nothing was done in the last four years of Democratic control to rein in the Supreme Court, I'm glad the norm respecters won out and we're all living in a rich norm-filled paradise today.
The thing to remember about the Supreme Court is that the GOP majority was obtained by having Mitch McConnell change his own made-up confirmation rules twice in four years and is currently made up of six lifelong gutter partisans who are basically Daily Wire columnists with better job security.

I never tire of pointing out that the ultimate costs of the post-9/11 wars will exceed the value of all of the oil imported into the United States from the Persian Gulf between 1980 and 2012.
If you opposed the Iraq War, you were branded “objectively pro-Saddam” and called a tool of Al-Qaeda. The fact that Iraq War opponents were correct about basically every single tragic outcome has never changed the way the protestors were portrayed and remembered.
No one should have to uproot their lives to keep their child safe, but at least the best American city is an option.

When energy costs spike due to war outbreak—like when Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022, and likely will after Israel's attack on Iran—overall costs rise and gas prices jump, which you may recall is such a dire predicament that it calls for empowering corrupt criminals to end Constitutional democracy.
....Unlike when Eisenhower federalized the National Guard to enforce desegregation in 1957, neither Newsom nor Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is obstructing federal immigration enforcement, much less ordering the California National Guard to do so as former Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus did in 1957.
...and it's also worth remembering that the thing MAGA die-hards are most angry with California/LA/Chicago etc about -- sanctuary laws. -- are perfectly legal.....
