I've always voted Green or Lib Dem in the past, apart from the last election. Partly because where I live my vote never counted (True Blue until last Summer) and I never liked Blair.
He doesn't want to offend potential voters, apart from all of us who abhor these so-called patriots. Because he thinks we'll vote Labour next time out of desperation to keep Reform out so he doesn't have to keep us on side.
It would be so unbelievably easy to make a patriotic and pride case for Britain while simultaneously putting the racists and bigots firmly back in their box. I mean the speech writes itself. So why is nobody writing it?
Farage and co will always find a reason to exist. If the 'problem' was solved to Farage's liking, he'd find the next thing to push.
Politics today is less driven by ideological conviction and more by parties chasing votes based on a distorted picture of public opinion, one filtered through algorithms that amplify emotionally engaging content. This incentivises performance over substance and erodes democratic deliberation.
They weren't let down by immigrants but by successive governments and greedy bankers/big business.

At school in the 1960s-70s, I don't remember much WWII at all. It was all Tudors and Stuarts. When, as a very mature student, I studied history at university in the early 2000s, all the boys picked WWII-related modules because they'd already studied it so much it would make life easier.
